you must first look back before you can go forward, Rooster came to be with my family on March 4,2011 and life with a tripawd couldn’t be better ! Here are a few pictures from the last 7 months or so…… here’s to ROOBY ROOBY ROO, as my son Owen (4) would say !
Rooster comes to VA….via North Georgia
It started in Feb. 2011 when my wife….yes it’s her fault had been sending 100’s of Labrador’s that were on various rescue sites. Rewind to 2006, we were on vacation in the FL. Keys when we learned my first Choc. Lab was sick and he eventually passed away while we were on vacation- needless to say the vacation ended that day…… this was my best buddy, he went everywhere with me. Ever since then… I was hesitant to get another Lab as I didn’t want to come them to Jager. Well….in FEB of 2011 my wife sent me an ad on petfinder of Rooster, I was done for….he had me then minute I pulled his picture up.
Rooster was finally delivered to me….via Last Chance Highway on March 4, 2011 in Staunton,VA ( http://animal.discovery.com/tv/last-chance-highway/meet/kyle-peterson.html ) by Kyle Peterson, what a fantastic man !
Rooster was found wandering in the backwoods of North Georgia, not far from Chattanooga, TN where I grew up. As it turned out the lady who rescued him knew my childhood neighbor, friend and also happened to be our VET !….. she named him Rooster after Rooster Cogburn, I liked the name and it suites him perfectly. Rooster was found missing his leg and no one really knows how he lost it…..what I do know is that he doesn’t miss a beat with one leg.
